Ranjita is preparing for her Secondary School Examination (SEE). If she passes this exam she will join class 11, which is equivalent to college. Ranjita completed her classes 9 and 10 with scholarship support from the Dignity project. She was worried about the finances for further education because her family has no reliable source of income. So the project supported her family of NRs. 10,000 for income generation opportunity.
Ranjita and her parents started poultry farming with support and some saving. They started with 200 chicken and sold it for a profit of 40,000 and reinvested. After 8 months they were able to make a profit of 40,000 again and there are still chickens in the stock. Her parents opened an account in a local cooperative and deposited Rs. 20,000 for Ranjita so that she can save and use it for her further study. Ranjita is very excited and doing her best to pass the SEE exam because of her saving amount and the business is growing.
