About Diploma Course on CDM

Community Development Management (CDM) course was implemented through the Transformed People-Transform Communities(TPTC) project of Share And Care Nepal(SCN) to enhance the skills, knowledge, and capacity of development practitioners. The pioneer six batches of the CDM Diploma Course was already completed successfully. Up to now, 123 participants of 28 districts have already graduated from the Diploma Course on Community Development & Management(CDM).

The course has been designed with a comprehensive package of knowledge, skills, and competence to facilitate community development programs through the Diploma Course on Community Development & Management(CDM). CDM (Diploma) course will have three different phases i.e. residential, online/web-based learning, and workplace application (community lab) the details of each module have been provided in the section below.

Residential Course

The course has been designed with a comprehensive package of knowledge, skills, and competence to facilitate community development programs through the Diploma Course on CDM. In Phase 1, a residential learning program will be conducted for 5 weeks by focusing on concepts, approaches, and skills about Community, Development, and Management.  The participants will be provided with intensive knowledge and skills based on their development needs.  The formal face-to-face learning will be organized based on residential mode at the transformation center by facilitating from experts of community-based, internal, and external resource persons. The entire residential course content will be categorized into 4 groups with a brief overview: 

  • Community
  • Development
  • Management
  • Skills Development

Online Course:

This module is for the learning of thematic components and assesses participant’s knowledge about various issues. A software, web-based program will be developed to share documents and assignments for students to access information easily and get used to information technology if feasible. In case of a lack of access to web base facilities to participants, the postal service can be managed to deliver reading materials and assignments.

This web-based learning will carry out for 4 months for the thematic component and they will carry on web learning and communicating to report and feedback to their plan of action after residential learning. This entire web learning process will be coordinate by a dedicated resource person of the course. This module will also allow developing a relationship with students so that they will feel comfortable as they get along with the course resource person through communication.

Work Place Application/Community Lab

After residential learning, the participants will return to their workplace/community and implement their learning through the action plan they have prepared. While During work place application, the participants will be monitored and supported by a resource person/course coordinator through communication and web-based follow up frequently to ensure the progress.
