Community-Based Health and Development Project, Pharping is the first project (1994) of Share and Care Nepal has a historical significance i.e. taking over management of the Pharping clinic from UMN/CDHP established by Presbyterian Doctor Robert and Bethel Fleming. The credibility developed by UMN through the significant contribution of another Presbyterian Dr. Dick Harding and other key persons contributed significantly to making this project unique. CBHDP program was expanded into the four VDCs in the Southern part of Kathmandu District namely Seshnarayan, Dachhinkali, Talku Dundechour, and Chhaimale.
After a decade of working with the local community in this area to improve the quality of life of the communities through economic, educational, health, spiritual and capacity development using the holistic primary health care approach Share and Care Nepal has celebrated its a decade work with the community as “The Joy of the Journey” on 19 November 2005 with the community. Changing needs of the community and the growth of organizations initiated by intellectuals and social workers, Share and Care Nepal has established the partnership with “A School for Community (ASC)” (a community-based institution) and “Man Mohan Memorial Community Hospital (MMCH)” to strengthen their capacity and sustainability of the project activities. Under “A School for Community (ASC)”, the Women Empowered Society for Development (WESD) two wings Community Outreach Program and Community Resource Centre is functioning with the partnership of Share and Care Nepal. The program is more community-responsive and with the approach of holistic development to continue the process of community empowerment.

Objectives:
- To ensure the process of sustaining the basic health care services after the takeover.
- To manage the technical capacity of community groups, Man Mohan Community Health Center, A School for Community, and Women Empowered Society for Development (WESD) will be enhanced to the capacity to manage and sustain the Center.
- To establish the project area as a model demonstration site to help other communities to learn.
- To develop the resource center to a standard whereby it can be hired out to earn its income to sustain itself.
- To develop a strong network and cooperation within and among the groups.
- To develop and initiate a process/mechanism whereby the existing groups will sustain after the project exits.
